POSTGRADUATE STUDIES (PGD)

Applicants must have a first degree from a well-recognised University including Five (5) subjects at WASSCE or GCE O’Levels.

UNDERGRADUATE/DEGREE PROGRAMMES

The University’s requirements for the Degree Programmes are –Either

1. Five (5) GCE 'O’ Levels/WASSCE Credits including English Language in not more than two sittings. In the case of the West Africa Examinations Council Examinations, only grades varying from 1-6 are recognized as GCE 'O' Level credit passes and Al-C6 for WASSCE. For the Associate Examinations Board (London GCE) only C grade or better is recognized, Or
2. Holders of HND/HTC with four (4) GCE 'O’ Levels/WASSCE Credits including English Language and/or Mathematics in not more than two sittings

In addition, applicants must satisfy faculty and departmental requirements for admission into the various faculties and departments (please see specific entry requirement for your proposed programme).

Applicants should note that some faculties start their Honours Programmes in the 3^rd Year. All students are admitted into general programmes. To be eligible for the Honours Programme, a student must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.60 at the end of second year.

CERTIFICATE AND DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

HIGHER DIPLOMA (HD) –Either

1. Four (4) WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level Credits including English Language and/or Mathematics or 4 NVQ (with unit 5 or better) in not more than two sittings, Or
2. Diploma in the related field with 3 WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Levels credits

ORDINARY DIPLOMA (OD) –Either

1. Three (3) WASSCE/ GCE ‘O’ Level Credits including English Language or 3 NVQ (with unit 5 or better) in not more than two sittings, Or

1. Technical Certificate in the related field

 HIGHER TEACHERS CERTIFICATE SECONDARY (HTC (S)) – Either

1. Four (4) WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level Credits including English Language and/or Mathematics or 4 NVQ (with unit 5 or better) in not more than two sittings, Or

3. Higher Teachers Certificate Primary (with at least three (3) WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level Credits including English Language and/or Mathematics or 3 NVQ (with unit 5 or better) in not more than two sittings

HIGHER TEACHERS CERTIFICATE PRIMARY (HTC (P)) –Either

1. Three (3) WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level Credits including English Language and/or Mathematics or 3 NVQ (with unit 5 or better) in not more than two sittings, Or  
2. Teachers Certificate with relevant teaching experience from an approved school with School Identification Number

STATE REGISTERED NURSE (SRN)

Five (5) GCE 'O' Levels/WASSCE Credits including English Language, Biology/Health Science and other science subjects in not more than two sittings.

TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE (Tech. Cert.) –Either

1. At least two credits at GCE 'O' Levels/WASSCE/NVQ or a pass in the University entrance examination, Or
2. Holders of NVC in relevant field 

TEACHER CERTIFICATE (TC)

Two (2) GCE 'O' Levels/WASSCE/NVQ credits or a pass in the University entrance examination in English Language, Mathematics and General Paper

VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VC) –Either

1. Four (4) passes at GCE ‘O’ Level/WASSCE with units 7 or better, Or
2. Six (6) credits at BECE; Candidate must be over 17 years of age, with at least two years of relevant work experience, Or
3. Pass in the University Entrance Examination in English, Mathematics and General Paper.

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATION AT EASTERN TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF SIERRA LEONE

1. Application Forms are available online from 1^st August, 2023 to 30^th September, 2023
2. Before proceeding with your application, you must ensure that:
   • You have carefully read and understood the eligibility criteria/requirements for your intended COURSE/PROGRAMME for which you are applying. Visit the Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone website https://www.etusl.edu.sl Click on ADMISSION followed by GENERAL ADMISSION INFORMATION.
   • A non-refundable payment of Le 400 as APPLICATION PROCESSING FEES is made into any of the university’s account with the following details:

   • You have a functional email address for yourself (applicant), parent/guardian/next of kin and two academic referees.
   • You have scanned copies of identification card, passport sized picture, birth certificate/ affidavit, school leaving testimonial, bank payment slip.
   • If you need assistance in filling the online application form, visit us at Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone Campuses. Otherwise, you can follow the steps with the support of a capable person.
     1. Visit the Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone website https://www.etusl.edu.sl Click on ADMISSION followed by GENERAL ADMISSION INFORMATION.
     2. Enter your authorised 20-digit pin and click submit.
     3. Please note that your application process can only proceed when you enter your App ID and OTP which are sent to your email address.
     4. All fields marked asterisk * are mandatory and must be completed.
     5. Make sure you keep the window open until all steps are complete, otherwise any information already keyed in will be lost.
     6. Applicant must fill his/her basic details like date of birth, address, National Identification Number, religion, phone number, region, email address etc. very carefully.
     7. No application will be processed if the following documents are not uploaded: - certified copy of result(s), identification card, passport picture, birth certificate/ affidavit, school leaving testimonial, bank payment slip etc.
     8. Upload digital passport photograph (jpeg format) which should not be more than 15KB in size and must be on a white background. The acceptable dimension is width: 275 pixels or 35mm, height: 314 pixels or 40mm. (Failure to comply with specified image format may lead to disqualification).
     9. Please check and confirm your information details carefully before finally submitting your application form.
     10. Click ‘SUBMIT FORM’ button if the information is correct, else, click ‘DECLINE’ button and continue again.

APPLICANTS ARE TO NOTE THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:

• The Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone and the West African Examinations Council have an understanding that those applicants who pay the Le 400 APPLICATION PROCESSING FEES are no longer entitled to buy WAEC scratch card(s) for result verification. Hence, applicants are to ensure that they correctly enter their WAEC details (Index Number, Year of Examination etc.) where applicable. The system will automatically generate the applicant's WASSCE result(s). This is applicable to applicants with two sittings as well. Without these your application will not be processed.
• Applicants are advised to read carefully the requirements for their desired programmes to confirm eligibility.

• Each Applicant is required to upload every listed credentials on the application form such as: certified copy of result(s), identification card, passport picture, birth certificate/ affidavit, school leaving testimonial, bank payment, etc.

• Applicants who present forged documents will forfeit their admission upon discovery and handed over to the police.
• Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone does not require any payment to process admission and does not engage any agent for admission. Prospective students are cautioned not to patronize touts.
• Dates for Interview and any additional information will be advertised and provided on the website of the Eastern Technical University of Sierra Leone, http://www.etusl.edu.sl and/or sent to your email.
